What is a Papercut?

Papercutting is an old Chinese art form where an image is cut from a single sheet of paper. We use the highest quality acid free paper to ensure your papercut will stand the test of time.

How are your frames made?

We’re very proud to be able to offer professional, custom made frames for our papercuts. They are handmade from a sustainable wood with your chosen finish.  Each frame is made to order, to an extremely high standard.   You can read more about our frames here.

Are your papercuts hand or machine cut?

To allow us to produce the best possible papercut for a reasonable cost to you we use a combination of hand and machine cutting. Our trusty cutting machine, lovingly named Edward (Scissor Hands!) cuts the basic design and then the smaller details of the papercut are hand cut. Although hand cutting is very precise, it is never as "perfect" as a laser machine would cut. We choose not to use a laser cutter as these can leave brown burn marks/darkened edges to your papercut and our customers prefer the craftmanship (that should be craftwomanship!) of our combination cuts.
